Paneer Bhurji

Paneer Bhurji is a dish popular in the Indian subcontinent, especially north and western India and Pakistan. It is usually served with rotis or naan.
Paneer Bhurji is usually a dry recipe. Paneer Bhurji is such an easy, tasty fulfilling recipe that you can even call it an classic is popular breakfast in North India made from crumbled paneer.

How to Prepare Paneer or Cottage Cheese ?

Paneer is prepared by adding food acid, such as lemon juice, vinegar, citric acid or yogurt,[ to hot milk to separate the curds from the whey. The curds are drained in muslin or cheesecloth and the excess water is pressed out. The resulting paneer is dipped in chilled water for 2–3 hours to improve its texture and appearance. From this point, the preparation of paneer diverges based on its use and regional tradition.

Ingredients

Paneer Bhurji Ingredients
  • 200 g Paneer
  • 2 small tomato
  • Green Peas 1 small bowl
  • Red Chilli Powder 1/2 to 1 tbsp (As per your taste)
  • Turmeric Powder 1 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder 1-1.5 tbsp
  • Fresh Coriander leaves Handful
  • Ginger - A small piece
  • Edible Oil - 2-3 tbsp

Recipe Steps for for Paneer Bhurji recipe

  • Take a Pan and add Edible oil in it.
  • Once hot add cumin seeds and ginger into it.
  • Cook till ginger pieces start becoming light brown.
  • Add turmeric powder and mix. Keep flame on low only.
  • Add green peas and spread. Add Salt
  • Add Red Chilli powder and coriander powder. Mix well.
  • Cover the pan and leave it for 2 minutes so that peas become soft.
  • Add tomato and mix.
  • Cover the pan again for five minutes so that both tomato and Peas are cooked well.
  • In the mean time grate Paneer i.e. Cottage Cheese. Keep the grated Paneer aside.
  • Open the cover of the pan and add grated Cheese.
  • Mix well and add coriander leaves. Mix well.
Paneer Bhurji
  • Switch off the flame.

Serving:

  • Transfer the Paneer Bhurji to a Serving plate.

  • You Can enjoy the Paneer Bhurji with Naan, Paratha, Chapati or can also have it with Rice as a side dish.

Burji Variations

  • Paneer may be substituted for the eggs.
  • Tomatoes can be added to the beaten eggs before adding them into the pan giving the dish a tangy flavor.
  • Boiled potatoes cut into small cubes are added to make the dish more filling.
  • Peas, carrots, capsicum and other similar vegetables can be added to the dish, improving the dish's taste and its nutritional value.
